The Car Connection (Vic) Pty Ltd, trading as The Car Connection ("we", "us"), runs this website at https://thecarconnection.com.au. This policy explains what personal information the website collects, what we do with it, who else sees it, and how to contact us about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
When you send us an enquiry through this website — the contact form, an enquiry about a particular car, or a finance enquiry — we collect what you type in: your name, email address, phone number, your message, and the car you are asking about. A finance enquiry may also include what you tell us about the finance you are after.
That is all the website asks for. We do not collect identification documents, bank details or anything about your income through this website. If a finance application goes ahead, the lender or broker collects those details directly, under their own privacy policy.
The website also records the usual technical details every website receives, such as your browser type and the pages you visit — see Analytics and cookies below.
How we use it
We use the details you send us to:
- answer your enquiry and talk with you about a car, a trade-in or finance
- pass a finance enquiry to our finance broker so they can contact you about your options
- keep a record of enquiries for our business
We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to marketing lists unless you have asked us to keep in touch.
Who we share it with
- Our finance broker, when you make a finance enquiry. They contact you directly and handle your details under their own privacy policy.
- The services that run this website. Enquiries are stored in the website's admin system and emailed to us. The site is hosted by Vercel, its database is held by Neon in Sydney, enquiry emails are delivered by Resend, and uploaded files are stored by Vercel and backed up to Cloudflare. Some of these providers are based in the United States, so your details may pass through or be stored there.
- Google, through Google Analytics and the embedded map — see below.
- Anyone the law requires us to share it with.
Analytics and cookies
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how people use it — which pages are popular, how visitors arrive, roughly where they are. Google sets cookies to do this. The reports we see are aggregated: they do not identify you personally, and we do not combine them with the details you send in a form.
The map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies when it loads.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The website works without cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for our business records, then delete them. You can ask us to delete your details sooner.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your details
You can ask us at any time to show you the details we hold about you, correct them, or delete them. Contact us using the details at the end of this page and we will respond within a reasonable time.
If you have a complaint about how we have handled your information, contact us first and we will do our best to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Website terms
- Car listings. Details of the cars on this website — prices, kilometres, features, fuel consumption figures and availability — come from our stock records and the manufacturers' published data. We do our best to keep them accurate, but errors and changes happen and a car may sell before the website updates. Confirm the details with us before you rely on them.
- Finance calculator. The repayment calculator gives an estimate based on the figures you enter. It is not an offer of finance, a quote, or financial advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account. Actual repayments, rates, fees and approval are determined by the lender.
- Other websites. Links to other websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.
- Our content. The text, photographs and design of this website belong to us or are used with permission, and may not be copied for commercial use without our agreement.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if what the website does changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
